Preview against Slovenia

Hungary will be facing a team that they are familiar with, the last time the two teams played each other was during the Division 1/A World Championships where Slovenia won 4-1. Just a couple of weeks early Hungary had defeated Slovenia 3-2 in overtime in Bled.

Jarmo Tolvanen and his coaching staff have decided to name Gergő Nagy the team captain with András Benk and István Terbócs as the two assistant captains. Miklós Rajna will be starting in net with Bence Kiss serving as the backup goalie. Also dressing for the first time for the Hungarian national team will be forwards Donát Szita and Bálint Horváth along with defencemen Bence Szabó, Scott Macaulay, Nándor Fejes and Roland Kiss. Sitting out the first game of the tournament will be Patrik Kiss, Ákos Mihály, Péter Vincze, Patrik Imre and Dávid Jászai. One interesting note is that Bálint Horváth will be playing on one line with his cousin Mátyás Odnoga.

Slovenia will be playing this 4 Nations tournament with an experienced roster as there are 12 players from last year’s World Championship team on this roster. Just to compare Hungary has four players from the Budapest World Championships. Slovenia has two players that play in Hungary on their team in Ziga Pance from DVTK Jegesmedvék and Andrej Hebar who plays in UTE. Goalie Luka Gacnar is back in the team for Slovenia but they also have strong names in Ziga Jeglic, Robert Sabolic and Rok Ticar. It will not be an easy game for Hungary but the Hungarian coaching staff will be concentrating on their own team.
